But in the weeks before it had been raining so there were flowers even in this hostile area

The more land inward the dryer it gets

Somewhere in the desert there is a gigantic airplane "rest area". About 100 of them are sitting quitly in the heat

In LA we spent a full 4 hours... 3 of which climbing this hill

More searobs (?)

Nice road that Highway 1, good for riding my motorbike when I am retired....

After 2 days we left San Francisco to travel to Los Angeles on Highway 1 that follows the coast. Just 20 min after leaving SFO you can find spots like these where I shall retire and open a little fish restaurant in 30 years

Lombard Street appeared popular with other tourists as well

Mrs. Antje: good company

Smelly business in the harbor

Pier 1 and the Bay bridge in the back

SFO China Town: Den Haag eat your heart out

Alkatraz!

Sunset over the Golden Gate

The streets of San Francisco including hills and cable cars

First view of Frisco

On my way to a two-week holiday in the SW of the US I crossed the salt flats which were still a bit wet: this is actually the Bonneville Speedway... better put windshield wipers on that riding rocket

Holiday!

After two months of working flat out it is time for some holiday! Together with travel-compagnon Antje Roggow I'm headed for San Francisco, Death Valley, the Canyons and Yosimity National Park. Driving to San Francisco appeared much cheaper than flying so I'll be taking the trusty Jeep on a big tour... Because of the large distances it is a pretty packed schedule but it should be good fun.

Salt Lake City is surrounded by mountains in the East and West. Here one of the "westerners"
